Chip was living amongst a feral colony, but his approachability and affectionate nature made it obvious right away that he was a lost or abandoned pet. He's a fabulous, well-mannered and, of course, handsome dude. However, Chip is FIV+. He's in good health, and with the proper care he can stay that way for a very long time, however his condition suggests that he either go to a home with no other cats or to a home with another FIV+ cat already in residence because similar to HIV, FIV can be spread, but only from cat to cat, not to humans and not to other species. Even between cats, it's extremely rare for it to be transmitted except through bite or aggressive scratch behavior. Chip is currently cared for in a shelter environment with other FIV+ kitties, but we can tell he's dreaming of a family of his own to make muffins for. Chip would be the perfect companion for anyone limited to just one cat who would prefer to bring home a pet who's already outgrown the crazy kitten days, who is mellow but can be playful, who is well-behaved and so very full of love.
